Art Basel began in the 70's in a Swiss city called Basel. It started in Miami as an international contemporary art exhibit and cultural meeting point 13 years ago. Due to it's global notoriety, it's ideal for any artist, designer, and tastemaker to be in the midst of.
As the city embraces Art Basel's arrival, their are plenty of parties, pop-up shops, fashion shows and other events taking place as a result.
Aside from just gallery viewings, for many milenials this is our time to enjoy pursuits of our craft, network, build, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Day 1: Complex Magazine and McDonald's Presents: Sneakerheadz MIA
I had the opportunity to link up with some very passionate kick connoisseurs at Sneakerheadz MIA at D-Koncept. The privilege to embrace the culture of artistic expression through style is priceless. All attendees had a chance to flick it up in Complex's photo booth and enjoy a mix of great music and top-shelf drinks.
What better way to celebrate the culture of dope sneaks than rocking YEEZY Boosts the same night Kanye accepts the "Shoe of the Year" award at the Footwear News Achievement Awards. It's LIT!
Day 2: BaeGoals & The Night Show
When dope women come together and create even doper art...you get #BAEGOALS. My homie @Rodddzilla never let's me down when it comes to the events for the culture!
A group of local lady artists (@TheNatalieChin, @Kaylin_Garcia, @BlakeAlexis_X, @ErikaMoney) came together for a night of positive energy and celebration of crafts -- if you missed this, you missed a great experience! The vibes were through the roof and the pieces were thought-provoking and refreshing.
Immediately after Bae Goals MIA I party hopped and crashed Green Label and Mountain Dew's party, Naturel "In The Paint" at Private Key. Synchronized visuals were displayed on the walls via projectors throughout the night to match the lively vibes.
I ended up at the "Night Show" presented by @NormaNow and @AOutrageous! As I partied alongside Ian Conner and ASAP Rocky I captured sick shots of Post Malone in his zone and Mannie Fresh taking the club up on the 1's and 2's!
Day 3: Art of Conversation Soul Basel - City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon & Terrence J.
Hosted by City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon and Actor Terrence J, "The Art of Conversation" was all about connecting and planning for the future with leaders of the city.
It was truly a legendary night as we had a conversation about the future of preserving Historic Overtown and progressive steps to build our city up! Uncle Luke and other local special guests popped up for this transitional event.
Muse0 is a new emerging art and fashion gallery/concept store In Wynwood. This visually stimulating show meshed high end fashion with street style concepts while maintaining a balance of minimalism and abstractness. I sat front row in attendance with Fabolous and all of the rest of the cool kids from around the pop culture world.
Right after the show I caught a cuban cuisine feast at Jimmy'z Kitchen in Wynwood, which was some of the best food in the area with even better service! After a full meal, I walked through the rain over to the DIEM #StaDIEM showroom that premiered a major collaboration between @PhilTheMayor and Fabolous for the DIEM brand. So many special guests came through to show love such as: Pusha-T, Sonny Digital, Ace Hood and many more. It was truly a night of champion success and wins! By the way, if you haven't listened to "Summertime Shootout" yet, do so!
I ended Basel in Brickell with NormaNow and friends. Although I spent most of the time waiting outside due to overcapacity regulations I enjoyed getting some nice shots of the neon lighting and raw energy of the party-goers coming and going. #SundazeMiami at Sidebar is always a popping event if you want to "party on a Sunday" as Travis Scott says. Great vibes to close out the week. I can honestly say with a pinched back nerve, barely getting over the flu from sleepless nights and grinding through the rainy weather. . .
I SURVIVED ART BASEL MIAMI 2015!
